What to do, What to do?
Do you here these dreadful words every night or weekend from your kids, I'm Bored!, Tell me what to do! I don't ever remember needing my mom to tell me what to do. But since we live in the age of T.V., Video Games, IPoDS and Cell Phones, kids seem to have really forgotten how to just play. So do as I do, make them stand up, go outside, and just PLAY. If they need help try to introduce them to some new things like bats, balls, jump ropes, skates, or if you dare a bike. And see where they end up.

SummerCamp or College
Is it me or is summer camp starting to cost just as much as you would pay to take classes at your local college campus. I don't agree with children sitting and wasting away their summer break playing video games. But, I don't want to put a second mortgage on the house for swimming lessons, Tye dye t-shirts and arts & crafts for $185.00/wk, no thanks.

New Mayor keeps saying no to the kids
Since our new mayor's been in office, I have seen a few programs that benefit our kids dismissed. Programs like Camp William Penn, Play Street, Summer lunch. What's going on? I know there is a need for budget cuts, and changes, but why start with the kids? If you want to reduce the budget, why not start with reducing some of those city council jobs, I thought I was watching a high school graduation, not the swearing in of a new mayor. When or people going to realize that in order for things to get better you are going to have better educate your children, so they won't grow up to make the same mistakes.

Desperate for education in philadelphia
It has become increasingly difficult to locate a good school in philadelphia. Don't get me wrong there are good schools, it's just not enough of them. I am constantly hearing about children being put on never ending waiting lists to get into schools, one parent said her child was number 275 on a list for only 40 kindergarten spots in a charter school. She asked me if I thought her child had a chance . I told her She already knew the answer to that question, and told her she should look into a few private schools, she may have a better chance with them. I think that the school situation is becoming a crisis. My sister literally called and harrassed a local charter school for an entire year, and her child was number 11 on the list. When she found out she got down to number 4 right before the school year begin she called twice a day. She finally got in a week after school has already started, only because they were tired of the phone calls. So my advise to everyone call and harrass the administration if your child has been wait list, but only if there number is low enough so they will have a fighting chance, for everyone else pray. :)
